Please prayerfully consider joining the Sewing Ministry. Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, 10 am to 3 pm, at St. Anthony's Fellowship Hall. If you cannot sew, crochet, or knit, we'll still have a job for you. We work and play hard and have a good time. The sewing ministry group is a very supportive and loving group of ladies.
For over 10 years , the Sewing Ministry, formerly of St. Peter's, now part of
St. Faustina Parish of Slippery Rock, has maintained it's mission to offer comfort , care, compassion and love to the many who have received our projects. We are a group of about 20 members., who began making comfort pillows and pillowcases for our local cancer and hospice Facility.
We have continued to make pillowcases, draw-string bags, small stuffed animals, and quilts among other things. Items are donated to our parish members, local schools, homeless and community groups.
In March, Covid - 19 struck and we began making masks. To date we have made and donated over 3,000, sending them all over the USA as we have heard of needs. Parish members, a local university , medical workers and caregivers in Butler, PA. and in Philadelphia, as well as White Mountain Apache Indian Tribe in Arizona to name a few. We sent masks to Sister Karen Krebs DayCare workers, the Change a Heart Volunteers and to Sisters at the Waters in Wexford, PA. and to Sister Elisa Bonano Workplace Parish in Youngstown, Ohio.
Then in September, Sister Donna Stephenson (my sister) mentioned a big need in Peru.
After 8 weeks of travel , many prayers and several calls to the US Postal service, Sister Christina Florez received the 182 masks we had sent to her convent in Lima, Peru.
Our mission continues as we prepare Christmas bags of goodies for our local nursing homes and home bound parish members, remembering that " Let all you do, be done in love". 1 Corinthians 16:14.
